Del Rio, California is a small town located in Stanislaus County, California, United States. The town is situated in the San Joaquin Valley, about 90 miles (140 km) southeast of San Francisco and 30 miles (48 km) south of Stockton. Del Rio has a population of about 1,200 people and is known for its agriculture, particularly its vineyards and almond orchards. The town was founded in 1871 by a group of Portuguese immigrants and was originally known as "Rio Del" (Portuguese for "River of the"). The town's name was later changed to "Del Rio" in 1893. Del Rio has a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. The town is home to several historic buildings, including the Del Rio Hotel, which was built in 1875 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
