Clovis, California, also known as Klovis, is a city in Fresno County, California, United States, with a population of 103,987. Clovis is located in the San Joaquin Valley, about 6 miles (9.7 km) northeast of Fresno. The city has a Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. Clovis was founded in 1888 by a group of settlers from the Midwest. The city was named after Clovis I, the first king of the Franks. Clovis has a rich history and heritage, and is home to several historical landmarks, including the Clovis Depot Museum and the Old Town Clovis Historic District.
