Tolleson is a city in Maricopa County, Arizona, United States, located at 33°45′00″N 112°25′53″W. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 6,545. Tolleson is part of the Phoenix metropolitan area and is located about 10 miles (16 km) west of downtown Phoenix. The city has a hot desert climate, with average high temperatures in the summer months of over 100 °F (38 °C). Tolleson was founded in 1912 by E.B. Tolleson, a real estate developer from California. The city was originally called "Arlington" but was renamed "Tolleson" in 1929. Tolleson has a rich agricultural heritage, and was once known as the "Lettuce Capital of the World". The city is also home to the Tolleson Historical Society, which preserves the city's history and culture.
