Waterford is a borough in Erie County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is located at the confluence of French Creek and the Allegheny River, approximately 15 miles southwest of Erie. The borough has a humid continental climate with warm, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Waterford was founded in 1796 by General William Irvine and was named after the Irish city of Waterford. The borough has a rich history and heritage, and is home to several historic buildings, including the Waterford Academy and the Waterford Methodist Church.
