East Pittsburgh is a borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is located on the east bank of the Monongahela River, opposite the city of Pittsburgh. The borough has a population of 1,829 (2020 census). East Pittsburgh was founded in 1874 and was named for its location on the east side of the Monongahela River. The borough is home to the Westinghouse Electric Corporation, which was founded in East Pittsburgh in 1886. The borough's economy is based on manufacturing, transportation, and tourism. East Pittsburgh has a humid continental climate with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. The borough is home to several historic sites, including the Westinghouse Electric Corporation headquarters and the East Pittsburgh Library.
