Maumee, Ohio is a city located in Lucas County, Ohio, United States. It is situated on the banks of the Maumee River, approximately 10 miles southwest of Toledo. The city has a humid continental climate with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Maumee was founded in 1817 by a group of settlers from Massachusetts. The city played an important role in the War of 1812 and was the site of the Battle of Fallen Timbers in 1794. Maumee has a rich history and heritage, with many historic buildings and landmarks. The city is home to the Maumee Valley Historical Society, which operates the Wolcott House Museum and Research Library.
