Weedsport is a village in Cayuga County, New York, United States. It is located in the Finger Lakes region of the state, approximately 20 miles west of Syracuse. The village has a population of around 1,800 people and is known for its agriculture and manufacturing. The climate in Weedsport is humid continental, with warm, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. The village was founded in 1794 by John and Peter Bellinger, who built a gristmill on the Owasco River. The village was originally known as Bellinger's Mills, but was renamed Weedsport in 1830 after the Weed family, who were prominent landowners in the area.
