Searingtown is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) located in the Town of North Hempstead, Nassau County, New York, United States. It is situated on the North Shore of Long Island, approximately 25 miles east of Manhattan. The area has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Searingtown was originally settled by the Matinecock Native Americans and was later acquired by the Dutch in the 17th century. The hamlet was named after John Searing, a local farmer who served as a captain in the American Revolutionary War.
