Angola on the Lake, New York, is a village located at the southern tip of Lake Erie, approximately 40 miles south of Buffalo. The village has a humid continental climate with warm, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Angola was first settled in the early 19th century and was named after the African country of Angola. The village has a rich heritage, with many historic buildings and sites, including the Angola on the Lake Historical Society Museum and the Angola on the Lake Lighthouse.
