Wilmot is a town in Merrimack County, New Hampshire, USA. It is located in the central part of the state, about 15 miles (24 km) northwest of Concord, the state capital. The town has a population of about 1,300 people and covers an area of about 26 square miles (67 km2). The climate in Wilmot is humid continental, with warm summers and cold winters. The town was founded in 1763 and was originally known as "Number 6". It was renamed Wilmot in 1807 after the British statesman Sir John Eardley-Wilmot. Wilmot is home to several historic sites, including the Wilmot Flat Meetinghouse and the Wilmot Cemetery. The town is also home to the New Hampshire Audubon Society's McLane Center for Wildlife Conservation.
