The town was founded in 1870 by a group of settlers from Iowa. The town is named after William Wymore, a prominent businessman and politician. The town's economy is based on agriculture and manufacturing. The town is home to a number of historical sites, including the Wymore Carnegie Library, which was built in 1904. The town is also home to the Wymore Public Schools, which serve students from kindergarten through 12th grade. The town has a humid continental climate, with hot, humid summers and cold, dry winters.
