New Baltimore is a city in Macomb County, Michigan, United States. It is located on the Anchor Bay of Lake St. Clair, approximately 25 miles (40 km) northeast of Detroit. The city has a population of 12,080 (2010 census). New Baltimore was founded in 1837 by Captain David C. McKinstry, a shipbuilder from New York. The city was originally known as McKinstry's Landing, but was renamed New Baltimore in 1855. New Baltimore is home to a number of historical sites, including the New Baltimore Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The city also has a number of parks and recreation areas, including Walter and Mary Burke Park, which is located on the waterfront.
