Harrisville, Michigan is a village in Alcona County, Michigan, United States. It is located on the northern shore of Lake Huron, approximately 60 miles north of Bay City. The village has a population of about 500 people and is known for its beautiful scenery, friendly people, and rich history. The village was founded in 1845 by a group of settlers from New York. It was originally called "Alcona" but was renamed "Harrisville" in 1857 after one of the original settlers. The village grew rapidly in the late 19th century, thanks to the lumber industry. However, the lumber industry declined in the early 20th century, and the village's economy suffered. In recent years, the village has experienced a resurgence in tourism, thanks to its beautiful scenery and its proximity to Lake Huron.
