Middlebury is a town in Elkhart County, Indiana, United States, with a population of 3,420 as of 2010. The town is located in northern Indiana, about 20 miles (32 km) south of South Bend and 60 miles (97 km) east of Chicago. Middlebury has a humid continental climate, with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. The town was founded in 1831 by a group of Amish and Mennonite settlers from Pennsylvania. Middlebury is home to the Amish & Mennonite Heritage Center, which tells the story of the Amish and Mennonite people in Indiana.
