East Hampton, Connecticut, is a town in Middlesex County with a population of 12,958 (2020). It is located in the central part of the state, bordered by the towns of Marlborough, Colchester, and Portland. The weather in East Hampton is humid continental, with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. The town was founded in 1658 by English settlers and was originally part of the town of Haddam. It was incorporated as a separate town in 1767. East Hampton has a rich history and heritage, and is home to several historic sites, including the East Hampton Public Library, which was built in 1833 and is one of the oldest public libraries in the United States.
