Clifton Forge is a city in Alleghany County, Virginia, United States, with a population of 3,902 as of the 2020 census. It is located at the confluence of the Jackson and Maury Rivers in the western part of the state, about 60 miles (97 km) west of Roanoke. The climate is humid subtropical, with hot, humid summers and cool, dry winters. The city was founded in 1886 as a railroad town, and its heritage is still evident in its architecture and historic sites.
