Milam, Texas is a small town located in the eastern part of the state, approximately 31 miles north of Lufkin. The town has a humid subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Milam was founded in 1834 by settlers from Alabama and Georgia and was named after Benjamin R. Milam, a hero of the Texas Revolution. The town has a rich history and heritage, with many historic buildings and sites still standing today.
