Kingsville, Texas, is a city located in the Coastal Bend region of South Texas, approximately 40 miles from the Gulf of Mexico. It has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Kingsville was founded in 1852 and was originally named Rancho Santa Gertrudis, after the nearby Santa Gertrudis Creek. The city is home to Texas A&M University-Kingsville, the largest university in South Texas, and is known for its rich ranching and agricultural heritage.
