Sharon Hill was founded in 1872 by a group of investors who purchased a large tract of land from the estate of Joseph Wharton. The borough was named after Wharton's daughter, Sharon. Sharon Hill has a rich history and heritage, with many historic buildings and sites, including the Sharon Hill Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
