Perkins has a rich history and heritage, dating back to its founding in the late 1800s as a stop on the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. The town was named after Charles Perkins, a prominent railroad official. Today, Perkins is a thriving community with a population of around 3,000 people.
