Idabel, Oklahoma, is a city located in McCurtain County, southeastern Oklahoma, United States. It is situated at the confluence of the Little River and the Mountain Fork River, approximately 12 miles (19 km) from the Arkansas border. The city has a humid subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Idabel was founded in 1887 and was named after the daughter of a railroad official. The city has a rich history and heritage, with many historic buildings and sites, including the Idabel Carnegie Library, the McCurtain County Courthouse, and the Idabel Cemetery.
