The average annual temperature is 61.6°F, and the average annual rainfall is 42.6 inches. Haskell was founded in 1904 and was named after Charles Haskell, the first governor of Oklahoma. The town is home to the Haskell Indian Nations University, which was founded in 1884 and is one of the oldest institutions of higher education in Oklahoma.
