Lavallette is a borough in Ocean County, New Jersey, United States, located on the Barnegat Peninsula, between the Atlantic Ocean and Barnegat Bay. The borough has a humid subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and cool, dry winters. Lavallette was founded in 1887 by a group of Methodists who were looking for a summer retreat. The borough was named after the French Huguenot family who owned the land on which it was built. Lavallette has a rich history and heritage, and is home to many historic sites, including the Lavallette Methodist Church, which was built in 1887, and the Lavallette Historical Society Museum, which houses a collection of artifacts from the borough's past.
