Cresaptown, Maryland, is a small town located in western Maryland, approximately 70 miles west of Baltimore. The town has a humid subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Cresaptown was founded in the early 19th century by Colonel Thomas Cresap, and was originally known as Cresap's Town. The town played an important role in the development of the region, and was a major center for coal mining and railroad transportation. Today, Cresaptown is a quiet, residential community with a population of just over 2,000 people.
