Boonsboro is a town in Washington County, Maryland, United States. It is located at the intersection of Maryland Route 34 and U.S. Route 40, approximately 6 miles (9.7 km) west of Hagerstown. The town has a population of 3,335 as of the 2010 census. Boonsboro was founded in 1789 by Colonel George Boone, a cousin of Daniel Boone. The town was originally known as Boone's Borough, but the name was later changed to Boonsboro. Boonsboro is home to several historic sites, including the Boonsboro Museum of History, the Antietam National Battlefield, and the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park. The town is also home to several wineries and breweries.
